The Foundation
A volunteer Board of Directors representing the diverse Tri-Cities' business community guides the Foundation. The history and purpose of the Foundation is not unlike most hospital-based foundations.

As government reimbursement of health care costs continues to decline, it becomes increasingly important to find alternative resources to allow KGH to continue to provide the high caliber of care the community has come to expect. Funds raised by the Foundation are used to acquire new and replacement equipment, upgrade facilities, and to provide financial support for new and existing programs.

Our Focus...
Our Mission
The mission of the KGH Foundation is to maintain and enhance financial support for Kennewick General Hospital. Continuing to remain current with technology, adding new and further developing existing programs and services requires innovation and expansion. At any given time, numerous projects are underway that depend on community support. The KGH Foundation supports these efforts by raising funds through:

A History of Spirit and Dedication
Kennewick General Hospital was built through contributions from churches, civic organizations and citizens. Special fundraising programs were held, and a house built by VFW and Labor Union volunteers was raffled. Virtually every kind of fund-raising opportunity was used to bring this community a hospital. The final step in the fund-raising was a $550,000 levy that passed on November 7, 1950. Construction began and the doors opened in August of 1952.

The community continued to invest in this precious resource. Women of the community sewed every fabric item in the hospital from napkins to curtains. People donated food from their gardens and plants from their farms to feed the patients and landscape the hospital grounds.

KGH is the single greatest example of volunteer community spirit, dedication and fund-raising that the Tri-Cities has ever seen. The KGH Foundation was created to continue this legacy and to maintain that spirit, dedication and fund-raising to benefit the people of our community.
